At the time of launch (May 2026), we don’t yet have any mature plants to show, but as you can see from the videos here, which are of medium size sale plants, there is already some interesting variation becoming apparent. We won’t waste words describing the differences, since you can clearly see them for yourselves. As the plants mature, we are very much looking forward to seeing how they turn out, and the upper pitchers will surely be super interesting. We expect to see the stout bristles on the undersides of the lids which are a major characteristic of Nepenthes ephippiata. The influence of Nepenthes ventricosa though is already fully apparent in the vigour and general ease of growth of this cross. Even juvenile pitchers are tough to the touch and when mature, we expect them to be hard and almost woody, so they should be long-lasting too!
History: Originally introduced and offered in only eight batches of five plants on our wholesale auctions between Sept and Oct 2024, it was first added to our shop and put on general availability in May 2026.
Climate: 'Highland'. We grow it between about 26 deg. C (80 deg. F) in the daytime, down to 12 deg. C (54 deg. F) at night, although it will certainly tolerate temperatures well outside this range.
